Lake Washington Christian Church
(Disciples of Christ) welcomes persons of all backgrounds to worship and
work with us.
As
Disciples of Christ we number ourselves among other liberal "main-line"
denominations. We are partners with the United Church of Christ, and are a
part of
Churches Uniting in Christ, which includes such denominations as United
Methodist, Presbyterian Church (U.S.A), and Episcopal.
At Lake Washington Christian Church we value diversity of belief and
opinion, and encourage all Christians to study the scriptures for
themselves. While we have no creed or set doctrine we are united in our
belief that "Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the Living God, the Savior of
the World."

In our worship we observe two ordinances established by Jesus – The
Lord's Supper and Baptism. We celebrate the Lord's Supper (also called
Breaking Bread or Communion), every Sunday as we gather to worship. The
communion table is open to all who believe in Jesus Christ, regardless of
church affiliation. We believe that it is Christ's table so we invite all to
participate.
Baptism of those coming to faith in Jesus is by immersion (an individual
is lowered completely under water). Persons who have previously been
baptized may become members of our church by making a public confession of
faith in Jesus. While it is not our practice to "sprinkle" or baptize
infants, we respect all forms of baptism, and do not require any
"re-baptism" of those who have been baptized in this way and now wish to
join our congregation.
At Lake Washington, we believe in service in Christ's name. Our lay
leadership supports the professional staff in ministry to the congregation.
And we also support a variety of local and regional ministries through the
larger church.
It is important, no matter what your age or interests, that you find a
place to fit in your church home. We offer a variety of studies, fellowships
and opportunities to work with people of all ages and interests.
While Disciples honor no human-made creed, the
Preamble to The Design for
the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) serves as a statement of faith
that poetically and prayerfully expresses our shared affirmations. To learn
