Where can I bring my children?
Children of all ages are always welcome to stay with their families.
Nursery care is available for infants-K. Our nursery is staffed by loving
volunteers who are members of our congregation.
At a designated time in our service children are invited to the front of the
sanctuary for the “Children’s Moment.” This is a short lesson that ties in
with the scripture reading or theme for the day. After this, children in
K-5 are invited to Children’s Worship. During this time the children may
sing songs, have a snack, read a story, or do a craft project, or Bible lesson
activity.
How should I dress?
What you wear is not important to us…really! Being in the Northwest, most folks
dress casually throughout the year. You will see many wearing shorts and
t-shirts in the summer. Many folks wear jeans or khakis.
How do I participate in the worship service?
First of all just by being present. You participate in worship with your
singing, praying, listening, greeting others, offering your gifts to God, and
partaking of Communion. As you enter the sanctuary a deacon will give you a
bulletin that outlines the order of the service. The words to the songs are
posted on the wall, if a song is in the hymnal as well the page number is in the
bulletin. The words for the Lord’s Prayer, which we sing, are posted in
the bulletin. The call to worship is usually done with the whole
congregation with the congregation’s reading in bold type.
May I participate in Communion?
We have Communion every Sunday. You may also hear it referred to as The
Lord’s Supper, Lord’s Table, or Eucharist. We practice an open Communion.
We believe it is Christ’s Table, and he is the host who invites us all to the
table. Therefore all are welcome to participate in partaking of the bread
and the juice. So as to remove all barriers to participation only
non-alcoholic juice is offered.
Am I invited to the various church activities I have read about?
Absolutely. Membership is not required to participate in any of our faith
or fellowship activities. We elect our board officers, elders, deacons and
other lay leaders from our church membership. If you are interested in
becoming a member of this congregation you are encouraged to speak to the
pastor.
